Mountain Golf

If you ask more experienced golfers who have played around the world what their favorite part of the trips was, you would likely hear the scenery. Those that play only at their local muni may only see trees, makeshift ponds, and occasional wildlife. When you take your golf game on the road, you will see so much more than that. From beautiful views of the ocean, sky, snow-capped mountains, and more, the sights are awe-inspiring. What are the five best mountain golf destinations?

Top Five Mountain Golf Destinations

Top Mountain Golf Destination: Stowe Mountain Golf Club, Stowe, VT, U.S.A.

You wouldn’t usually think of Vermont as having a great golf course, especially in Stowe when all you likely know about them are their incredible skiing and snowboarding trails. The Stowe Golf Club will change your mind and make wonder if its not a better summer destination. The course winds across the mountain at an elevation of 1,800 feet. You’ll play around a beautiful lake, but keep your eyes open as you never know what wildlife you may see.

Top Mountain Golf Destination: Devil’s Knob Golf Course, Wintergreen, VA, U.S.A.

Devil’s Knob Golf Course is the highest course in Virginia at an elevation of over 3,800 feet and part of the year-round Wintergreen Resort. Designed by Ellis Maples, the course provides breathtaking views of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains. Located about 45 minutes from Charlottesville, the tight fairways and elevation changes will challenge golfers of all levels. This course is a must-play in the summer when it is nice and cool on the mountaintop and a welcome respite from the heat.

Top Mountain Golf Destination: La Quinta Resort Mountain Club, La Quinta, CA, U.S.A.

Part of a family of five courses in this section of California, the La Quinta Resort Mountain Club will give you stiff competition and wonderful views. This course regularly plays home to the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic charity tournament.

Top Mountain Golf Destination: Pole Creek Golf Club, Winter Park, CO, U.S.A.

Pole Creek Golf Club offers a terrific challenge over its scenic 27-holes. The course takes golfers through varying landscapes including fields of native wildflowers, massive elevation changes, plenty of water hazards and gorgeous views. The Ridge 9 course is the toughest of the group and requires expert play through tree-lined holes up and down the mountain. Watch out for frost warnings even in the summer!

Top Mountain Golf Destination: Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Golf Club, Lijiang City, China

Not only will Jade Dragon provide you one of the most breathe-taking views of snow-capped mountains in the world, it will give you some of the scariest holes. From a par 5, 735 yard hole to a 270-yard par 3, this course will test your skills and your ability to go low. The thin air at this course, set 10,000 feet above sea level, will make the ball travel further than it would at home, but as the longest course in the world at 8,450 yards, your performance might not match the view.
